Basingstoke shopping centre Festival Place is supporting the Keep Basingstoke Tidy initiative, part of the UK wide Keep Britain Tidy campaign that pledges to clean up the nation throughout September.
Alongside Basingstoke Together, The Malls and Basingstoke & Deane Council, Festival Place is calling upon the town’s residents to give up a few hours of their time to help with the clean up across all areas of the town on September 18 and 20.
The Housekeeping team at Festival Place have donated a selection of safety equipment including gloves, buckets, and sponges.
FP Centre Director Neil Churchill said: “We consider ourselves to be at the heart of the town centre, which is why it is so important to us to make sure that we all do our bit to keep it tidy.
“Alongside the equipment we have donated, members from our team will also be out collecting litter, whilst the council will be using their road sweepers and chewing gum machines.
“We encourage anyone that is able to spare a few hours to get involved.”
Basingstoke Together Chief Executive Jane Stewart said: “I’m delighted to see so many local businesses take part in this community initiative.
“It is extremely important, now more than ever, that everyone does their bit to ensure that our streets are kept clean and I look forward to joining everyone at both events.”
Anyone over the age of 16 is welcome to sign up, whether this be over their lunch break or spare a few hours of their weekend.
